What is Opticomm?
Opticomm is a wholesale broadband network that connects homes and businesses across Australia. Opticomm builds and maintains the network, while internet providers such as Cmobile supply your broadband plan, manage your account and provide customer support.
Is Opticomm the same as NBN?
No. Opticomm and nbn are separate broadband networks. Both provide network access to internet service providers, but the services available to you depend on which network connects your property. You need an Opticomm-compatible plan for an Opticomm connection.
How do I check whether Opticomm is available at my address?
Enter your address on this page. The check tells you whether your property is on the Opticomm network and the maximum speed available there. Cmobile will confirm whether any installation work is needed after you order.
How do I connect to Opticomm with Cmobile?
First, check your address on our Cmobile Opticomm plans page to see if your address is connected. If so, select a plan from our plans page and place your order.
Do I need a new router?
Not necessarily. You can bring your own router if it is compatible with the Opticomm network, or buy one outright from Cmobile. If you use your own router, you are responsible for setting it up. Routers bought from Cmobile come with full technical support and a 12-month warranty. Contact us if you’re not sure your router will work.
How long does it take to connect to Cmobile?
If your property is already connected to Opticomm, switching to Cmobile is usually quick. Timing depends on your property’s connection status and when your order is processed. New connections that need equipment installed take longer.
Do I need a technician to visit my home?
It depends on the connection status of your property. If the necessary Opticomm equipment is already installed and ready to use, further installation work may not be required. A new or incomplete connection may need a technician visit. We’ll confirm this after you place your order.
Are there any connection or installation costs?
There is no Cmobile set-up fee. If your property is in a new development, a $300 New Development Charge may apply. Opticomm may also charge a deployment fee for a first-time installation of the network device, extra devices at the same address, or a multi-port upgrade. How much data is included in my Cmobile Opticomm plan?
All Cmobile Opticomm plans have unlimited data, so you are not restricted to a certain data limit or cap.
How does the $5 mobile bundle discount work?
Have an active Cmobile Opticomm internet plan and an eligible Cmobile mobile plan, and we’ll take $5 a month off your bill. The discount stops if either service is cancelled.
