3G mobile network closure in Australia
As at 28 October 2024, 3G mobile networks in Australia have closed. If your mobile device does not support 4G networks and Voice over LTE (VoLTE), it will not longer work on any Australian mobile network including Telstra, Vodafone and Optus.
For Cmobile customers, our mobile plans use either the Telstra (C Blue plans) or Vodafone (C Red plans) networks. It’s important to check your device to make sure it’s now compatible with the mobile network so you can stay connected.
C Blue plans (Telstra network)
Your device needs to support the following frequency bands:
4G Network
700MHz (B28), 1800MHz (B3), 2600MHz (B7)
5G Network
850MHz (n5), 3500MHz (n78)
Your device must be compatible with 4G band 28 (700MHz) and VoLTE to make and receive voice calls, including emergency calls. If not your device may be blocked on the network.
C Red plans (Vodafone network)
Your device needs to support the following frequency bands:
4G Network
700MHz (B28), 850MHz (B5), 1800MHz (B3), 2100MHz (B1)
5G Network
700MHz (n28), 850MHz (n5), 1800MHz (n3), 2100MHz (n1), 3500MHz (n78)
Your device needs to support VoLTE to make and receive voice calls, including emergency calls. If not your device may be blocked on the network.
If you are unsure if your device is supported, please contact us and we will assist you. Your device may require a software update to be compatible with the network. For iPhone devices you need to have iOS10 or above and for Android you need to have Android 9 or above. You also need to have VoLTE switched on in your phone settings.
